Man In The Mirror

Man In The Mirror

James 1:22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Does Abba provide suffering?
Luke 14:36 And He was saying, “Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will.”

What was “this cup” if not a cup of suffering?

James encourages us to be “doers.” Question: What is there to do if there is no suffering in the world? Would we understand the pain Elohim suffered in giving up The Son in order to redeem us? Does a football team win without suffering? Could we even praise God if there were no suffering in our lives? How can we know what “good” is if we don’t have something like suffering to compare it to?

“I’m starting with the man in the mirror

I’m asking him to change his ways

And no message could have been any clearer

If you wanna make the world a better place

Take a look at yourself and then make that change”

Father, stand beside me as I look in the mirror. Do I see Your Word reflected back to me or do I see my own selfishness? Father, I want to be filled with You, not me!
